2. What is the probability of getting a 2 of spades. Express as a decimal.
3. You are holding four cards and all four are hearts. What is the probability of getting a heart with the next card? (how many cards are left in the deck? How many are hearts?) Express as a decimal.
4. In blackjack, you are holding a Jack. What are the odds of being dealt --
a) an ace? Express as a decimal.
b) another card worth 10 points? Express as a decimal.
c) a card worth 3 points or less? Express as a decimal.

6. What are odds of getting a royal flush (10-J-Q-K-A all of one suit)? Express as a decimal.
7. Assume you hold the 10-J-Q-K of Hearts. What are the odds of getting the Ace with your fifth card?
8. In blackjack, the dealer has 14. What are the odds that he'll go bust and have to pay all the players?

Probability (express all your answers as decimals)
1. A man deals four cards. What is the probability that all four are sevens?
2. In blackjack, 10,J,Q, and K are all worth ten. What is the probability that you will be dealt a card worth 10 points for the first card you get? (hint: there are 52 cards)
3. In blackjack, what is the probability of getting 21 with two cards (probability of getting dealt an ace multiplied by the probability of getting a card worth ten points)
4. In blackjack, what is the probability of getting 20 points with just two cards? First, what combinations make twenty? (11 + 9 or 10 + 10). Add the two probabilities to get the total probability.
5. In blackjack, if you are holding 16 (assume a 10 and a 6), what is the probability of getting a card that will give you 21 or less with your next card?

2. Social studies: the World in the 1930s. The Rise of Mussolini.
I know you have read Hitler, but Mussolini was far more influential than Hitler was, until the late 1930s. His brilliant use of the color black, his rallies, and his successes in reforming the Italian economy and society made people think he was using the right methods. Actually he was a brutal dictator who was rejected by his people. Hitler modeled his own movement on Mussolini.
Read about Mussolini at Wikipedia.
3. Science: Learn how an experiment is done. Follow the links about malaria and read them carefully. Real life CSI! When I was in Kenya I had this disease.
4. Writing exercise.
Write a five paragraph essay explaining why the world was too weak to resist Hitler in the 1930s. Use these three big problems -- poor leadership, the Depression, and the weakness of the League of Nations -- to explain it.
Good luck!

Zeb, for the ones below, get X on one side, and the numbers on the other. then you can solve it. For example:
3x = 2 + x
First, we substract X from each side:
2x = 2
Now you can see that X = 1!
Try these:
5 + 2x = 8 + x
8x + x + 2 = 12 + 10x
x - 6 = 4x - 10
4x + 12 = 2x + 20
6x + 5 – 2x = 4 + 4x + 1
